There are very few people who did not wait for the comeback of the TV show FRIENDS. The TV show has a gigantic fan-base with millions of followers worldwide and has been one of the most successful TV shows to be ever aired on television.
The show decided to have a special episode for its fans with all the original actors. After the release of the episode speculations are being made on how much these iconic actors have been paid to make their debut in this special episode. The original stars of the show Jennifer Aniston, Mathew Perry, David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox, and Matt LeBlanc were all present on the show and played their respective characters. Several prominent celebrities were also featured in the show.
Celebrities like Justin Bieber, Kit Harrington, Lady Gaga, and Cindy Crawford were also present in the special episode. The special episode receives as much love as the original show did and viewers can’t seem to get enough of their favorite characters even after the show ended almost two decades ago.
FRIENDS has gained an unbelievable amount of commercial success since its original release. The sitcom was the brainchild of David Crane and Marta Kauffman which went on to become one of the most loved shows in the television industry.
The series aired from 1994 to 2004. After a gap of about 17 years, a special episode of the show was released on 27th May of this year. The episode was highly anticipated and has been successful in gathering hype long before it was aired by HBO Max. HBO Max had purchased the rights to the show from Netflix who owned the rights earlier. The television company HBO Max is said to have paid $425 million to Netflix for FRIENDS.
The special episode on FRIENDS Reunion was being planed from November of 2019 and after almost two years, the episode was aired. The teaser was released on 13th May 2021 which prepared the fans for the special episode.
The episode which was a treat to the die-hard fans of the show was also a big investment for the production team. The show had generated millions of dollars in revenue for the Warner Bros. and is said to have brought them $1 billion every year. A show that generates this much income also means that it pays its actors a lot of money for their work.
It was reported that initially the actors in the sitcom were paid $22,500 per episode. The amount gradually increased to $100,000 to $1 million per episode when the series finally ended in 2004 after being aired for 10 years. While it is unclear what the actors were paid in the recent episode, the media has been speculating that the amount was somewhere between a whopping $2.5 to $4 million. Nevertheless, from what we see in the success of the show, this amount will be easily replenished by the revenue that the show will generate the near future
